NO COAL!tion is working to prevent:

• Potentially toxic coal mining in the Margaret River town water-catchment area
• The proposed mine that would penetrate the fragile Leederville aquifer underpinning the Margaret and Blackwood Rivers
• A huge industrial process  that would damage the region’s pristine international tourism brand and wine industry
• Pollution of the air, soil and water with the waste products of coal mining, including carcinogenic heavy metals and bio-destructive acids and salts
• Increased heavy traffic on the region’s roads which would increase accident risks for tourists and locals
• The potential for enduring damage to the environment through subsidence of the land above the mine tunnels
• This mine would be the thin edge of a coal mining wedge that would be driven through the heart of the Capes Region from Dunsborough  to Augusta
